Harvey Browne Staff
Rev. Christine Coy Fohr- Head Pastor
Christine first sensed a call to ministry while serving as a Young Adult Volunteer in Belfast, Northern Ireland. While there, she saw how religion could be used both as a weapon to divide and as a tool for reconciliation. When she returned home, she prayed she would find ways to continue the work of healing, reconciliation and service in Christ’s name.
After working in Presbyterian World Mission to recruit a new class of Young Adult Volunteers (www.pcusa.org/yav), she enrolled at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She was ordained to her work at JustFaith Ministries, a faith-based non-profit that offers social justice education programs for congregations across the country. Following that, she served on the staff of Highland Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Kentucky and at First Presbyterian Church in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Christine came to Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian in August of 2020. She came with her husband, Rob, who serves as the Director of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s Office of Faith-Based Investing and Corporate Engagement. They have two young daughters.
Christine is a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, where she earned a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology and Sociology. She studied at Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration for a semester and served as an intern at the European Roma Rights Center.
Rev. Katherine Kupar – Parish Associate
Rev. Katherine Kupar is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and a graduate of the University of Arkansas. She served as a Young Adult Volunteer in New Orleans doing environmental education and justice on the coast of Louisiana. Katherine received her M.Div from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and she was ordained to serve as Director of Operations for a non-profit assisting families experiencing a financial crisis in Pensacola, Florida. While in Florida, Katherine also served a small church as a pulpit supply pastor. Katherine and her husband, John, have recently moved back to Louisville and celebrated the birth of their son, Burnam. Katherine enjoys reading, being outside, cheering on the Hogs, and a good cup of coffee. Katherine’s work at Harvey Browne will focus on young adults and young parents, worship, and congregational life.
Rev. Jim Hubert and Kristy Hubert – Co-Parish Associates for Pastoral Care
Kristy and Jim are both Hoosiers born and raised and are unabashedly proud Purdue Boilermaker graduates. Jim graduated in Communication while Kristy graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. They moved to Louisville in 1987 with their two young children, where Jim received his Master of Divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary. Jim served for ten years as the seminary’s Director of Admissions, followed by time with the PCUSA Center, and on to many professional years involving the automobile business (Some have called him the Car Rev – it’s quite a story!).
Kristy stayed busy and fulfilled with raising their children, volunteer and other involvements, until she shifted to over 20 years of professional work including as a teacher with the Highland Presbyterian Weekday school, Director of Member Care at Highland Presbyterian Church, primarily focused on older adult ministries, Stephen Ministries and care coordination. She later worked for Presbyterian Homes of Louisville, and as Marketing Director for Miralea & Meadow at Masonic Homes of KY for several years. She is an ordained Ruling Elder.
Whether meeting with folks about cars, sharing in worship, or supporting families making major moves, for Jim and Kristy it has always been ministry. They feel clearly called to this new opportunity of care at Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church. Some might call it serendipity or a “God wink…” The timing feels just right. They are grateful and excited to see how they might be able to draw from their experiences and share in this new place and time.
They start nearly every day with an early morning walk with Gabriel, their angel dog. Both love singing, music and being outdoors. They are proud parents of adult children and are delighting in their grandson.
