Private Signs

In the event that immigration law enforcement officials attempt to gain entry to rooms within the church building marked “private”, law enforcement officials must present a valid judicial warrant to enter these private spaces. By designating spaces as private, we hope to maintain the privacy and safety of members and visitors within our church community.

In March of 2025 the Session of Harvey Browne adopted the Immigration Enforcement & Confidentiality Policy. We are dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of immigration status.

Why This Policy Matters:

  1. Safety and Confidentiality: We believe in protecting the privacy of our members and visitors. Designated private areas within our church are marked to ensure that anyone needing a place of refuge may find one in the event law enforcement officials enter the church building.
  2. Non-Participation in Enforcement: Our church is a place of worship and community, not an extension of law enforcement. We do not assist in immigration enforcement actions, and our staff and volunteers are not responsible for enforcing immigration laws.
  3. Non-Discrimination: Everyone is welcome to participate in our worship services and church activities. We do not inquire about or record anyone’s immigration status, ensuring that our church remains a place of refuge and belonging for all.
  4. Pastoral Care: We are committed to providing pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and practical support to all individuals affected by immigration-related concerns.

In the event that law enforcement officials enter the church building, notify the pastor or associate pastor immediately. The pastor or associate pastor shall be the only point of contact with law enforcement officials.

Rooms within the church building are marked as private with a sign to ensure the privacy and safety of our community members. If law enforcement officials seek access to these rooms, they must have proper authorization. Entry to these designated private spaces requires a valid judicial warrant.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our pastoral staff.
